The Aurora Series is Back!

The National Esports Collegiate Conference (NECC) is proud to announce today that it has acquired the rights to oversee and manage the Aurora Series, and that it will be returning during the 2025-26 academic year.

The NECC will continue to support, promote, and hold true to the Aurora Series's mission to solidify esports as a safe space for everyone involved.

The Aurora Series will feature competition across a handful of titles and is open exclusively to marginalized students. More details about which titles will be offered as well as the schedule of events as part of the Aurora Series will be announced in the next few weeks.

“Having the drive to compete but no space that felt completely safe was a big reason I reached out to Cora Kennedy about starting the Aurora Series in 2023,” said NECC and Aurora Series Director of Social Media Kylie Welch.

“Since then, it’s been incredible to see schools build teams, scholarships emerge, and a true sense of community take shape around the Aurora Series. When I heard its doors were set to close, I immediately reached out to my team at the NECC to help keep it alive.”

The Aurora Series is open to current college and university students. Participating players representing any campus throughout North America are eligible to participate. Only 3/5 of the student-athletes on each team’s roster have to be from the same institution.

In order to be eligible to compete, however, students must be verified through AnyKey (more information about AnyKey can be found below).

“We’re excited to be bringing the Aurora Series back,” said NECC Director Esports Caleb Glube.

“As soon as Cora Kennedy (original founder of the Aurora Series) announced she wasn’t planning on bringing it back, I reached out to her to see if we could do anything to make sure it could continue. I’m very happy she was willing to work with us and we’re excited to keep this important effort going.”

ANYKEY VERIFICATION
