The partnership will expand media coverage and exposure for collegiate esports and NECC member institutions
The National Esports Collegiate Conference (NECC) today announced a new strategic partnership with Esports Edge, the 24/7 esports entertainment channel available on The Roku Channel, featuring live events, tournaments, highlights, original programming, and more.
Through the partnership, the NECC and Esports Edge will work together to increase the visibility of collegiate esports, while creating additional opportunities to showcase the student-athletes, teams, coaches, programs and events within the NECC community.
With year-round programming, Esports Edge provides a centralized destination for esports content on Connected TV. Available on The Roku Channel, the company provides an expanded distribution pathway for NECC programming and storytelling. The Roku Channel reaches approximately 145 million streamers in U.S. households alone, underscoring the platform’s significant reach across U.S. streaming audiences.
“Collegiate esports has an incredible depth of competition, talent and stories that deserve broader visibility,” said Michele Maguire, SVP of Business Development, Esports Edge. “Our partnership with the NECC creates new opportunities to bring that programming to Connected TV audiences while showcasing the student-athletes, teams and institutions helping shape the future of esports.”
“We are extremely excited to partner with Esports Edge and provide another platform to showcase the incredible stories, accomplishments, and competition within the NECC,” said Jacob VanRyn, Commissioner.
“One of our top priorities at the NECC is continuing to elevate the profile of our member institutions and student-athletes, and Esports Edge provides an exciting opportunity to do exactly that. Their commitment to esports storytelling and content makes them a natural partner for the NECC.”
As part of the partnership, the organizations will explore opportunities to feature NECC competitions, championships, teams, student-athletes and other programming through Esports Edge’s growing media platforms.
In addition to showing NECC competition throughout the year, the partnership will also create opportunities for expanded storytelling around collegiate esports, highlighting the people and programs behind the competition and giving audiences a closer look at the rapidly growing collegiate esports ecosystem.
The partnership represents another step in the NECC’s ongoing effort to expand opportunities for its membership while increasing the visibility and reach of collegiate esports.
