Today, the National Esports Collegiate Conference (NECC) announced that it will officially begin offering Apex Legends beginning during the 2025 spring semester.
The announcement comes after nearly a year of planning and collaboration between EA, the publisher of Apex Legends and the NECC.
“We’re extremely excited to bring Apex to our NECC community,” said NECC Commissioner Jacob VanRyn. “We’re really excited to add Apex Legends to our list of core titles and would like to thank the staff at EA for their support in this effort.”
Apex Legends is a character-driven, squad-based Battle Royale shooter where teamwork is the difference between victory and defeat.
“We’re looking forward to bringing Apex Legends to the NECC, stated Mitch Gilchrist, Game Operations Director at the NECC. “The collaboration with EA and the support we’ve gotten from their team has been awesome. We’re really excited about the things we’ll be able to do next semester and beyond with their support.”
More details about the upcoming season of competition, including play dates, schedule, and format will be released in the next few weeks.
