NECC Officially Releases New Branding, Marks

The NECC Brand Launch Home Page

MANSFIELD, Mass. - The National Esports Collegiate Conference (NECC) is proud to launch an updated brand identity, intended to forge strategic connections between enduring qualities of the collegiate gaming community and the core pllars and mission of the conference. This collaborative venture engaged a full range of NECC stakeholders for input throughout the process.

The conference partnered with Skye Design Studios (sdsbranding.com), a nationally-known leader in branding and marketing, to develop the new identity.

"The new logo and identity is super exciting for myself and the entire digital media team," said Michael Martinez, NECC Director of Digital Media. "We have been searching for a cohesive and professional look ever since this community started to gain traction and I think we hit the nail right on the head! I am ecstatic to get working on new designs and complete the look for Season 1."

The identity features new core marks and colors for the NECC authentic to the conference's mission and why it was created. The new branding includes two core marks and three unique and exciting colors that helps create a connection with our core pillars and the exciting world of esports we’ve come to know and love. With the introduction to Season 1 within the NECC, we hope to centralize and simplify the look and feel of our productions and media with our new brand identity.

"The creative journey began as a result of where we had come from in such a relatively short amount of time and needing new marks and colors that we could identify with and be proud of at the NECC," said NECC Commissioner Jacob VanRyn.

"While our old logo and marks certainly served their purpose, our team was seeking an identity that spoke to us when creating the media and content our community has come to associate with us. Our new logo obviously incorporates the letters in our name - National Esports Collegiate Conference - and from there, we set out to develop the pillars that define who and what we are. Deciding upon our three core values: Community, Competition, and Respect was not an overly difficult decision because it's what we've stood for since we began this effort. A huge thank you to Skye Dillon and his design team and also to all of the members of our NECC team that shared their thoughts and opinions throughout this process. We're thrilled with the results."

Each of the conference's primary colors represents one of the NECC's core pillars.

RESPECT | BLUE
The NECC has put respect at the forefront of our league. We as a company and community believe that any and every person should get the same respect as if they were family. We signify this pillar with BLUE to represent the respect we have for each and every person we interact with on a daily basis.

COMMUNITY | CYAN
Next, our community has driven the growth and development of our business and our league to a height that we had never even comprehended. Without our community we would not have a league to put on, and we cannot thank you enough for that. We signify community with the color CYAN to represent the growth and continual thanks we have for every member of the NECC.

COMPETITION | YELLOW
Finally, our competition is at the heart of our league and business. Your fiery passion and fierce competition is what excites us to continue to develop this community and every portion of our business. We signify competition with the color YELLOW to represent the passion and fuel our community has for competition in esports.

"I love all that the NECC represents. Esports symbolize an entirely new dimension of competitive team events in our world today, and I admire the NECC team for being leaders in this movement," commented Skye Dillon who helped lead the creative process.

"As a recent entity in a sport with a relatively low public profile in relation to traditional collegiate athletics, it was vital the brand identity communicated its name, purpose, and values as clearly as possible - there was no room for subjectivity or misinterpretation. As a result, everything from the logo to support graphics were built solely with typography, literally spelling out who the NECC is and what it stands for."
